European White Oak Top Layers.
In 2023 we began developing the oak top layers in Eastern Europe to manufacture sanded and calibrated European White Oak top layers for domestic flooring manufacturers.
While this product isn’t anything new, it’s quite revolutionary to be able to buy what you need to make European White Oak flooring here domestically. This product is from the region of Europe that produces extraordinary consistency of color. The reason for this is because we only harvest one specific type of White Oak, the Slavonian oak, also called “Golden Oak”, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe.
What to Know About Slavonian Oak.
In the large forests at the eastern border area of Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia, the Slavonian oak grows in perfect climatic conditions. The height above sea level encourages optimal slow and even growth that gives the forest an exceptional quality of beautiful wood raw material. In the Slavonian forests, the trees usually grow closely together to create dense vegetation, which promotes upward growth.
The Slavonian forests are well renowned. They are managed in a sustainable way from a very strict ecological, social and economic framework for hundreds of years, which is why we can offer this in FSC if needed.
Every year, much less wood is taken out of the forests than what is planted back, and as trees of lesser quality are continuously culled, the Slavonian forests are becoming increasingly more beautiful for every year being managed in this way.
Slavonian oak is used not only to manufacture furniture and floors but is also traditionally used to produce wine barrels, especially for larger barrels.
